Job Title: Clinical Fellow Obs & Gynae

Band:ST3-5

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

The clinical fellow will work on the general obstetrics and gynaecology rota. This involves working a 1 in 8 on call rota on the junior registrar rota (ST3-5) comprising of 1 in 8 weekday days (Monday-Thursday 0830-2100), 1 in 8 weekday nights (Monday to Thursday 2000-0830) and 1 in 8 weekends of days (Saturday and Sunday 0830-2000) and nights (Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2000-0830. During the period of time where the fellow is covering the Acute Gynaecology Unit, there may be a weekend where they cover the AGU on call. When not on call, daytime duties will be on the junior registrar rota, providing care to women in the wide range of services offered by the department; these duties will include antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology ward rounds, gynaecology and antenatal clinics, gynaecology theatres and elective caesarean section lists. The daytime delivery suite cover is by a junior registrar (ST3-5) and consultant. The daytime gynaecology cover is provided by acute gynaecology fellows who run the acute gynaecology unit between 0830 and 2100 daily. St George's maternity unit has a strong track record of training in intrapartum fetal monitoring using a fetal physiology and the clinical fellow would be expected to attend weekly training sessions

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Full registration the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligible for full registration if applying from abroad MRCOG part 1 Up to date adult and neonatal resuscitation training

Desirable

  • Full MRCOG Evidence of publications ALSO course or equivalent

Experience

Essential

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for ST3-5 level Experience in delivering care in a high risk delivery suite Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients

Desirable

  • Demonstrate a range of ideas for further research within specialist areas Evidence of developing evidence based services in obstetrics eg audit, guidelines or service development.

  • Able to function at ST3-5 level on delivery suite
