The post holder is responsible for overseeing patients through their lung cancer pathways. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating the lung TWR and Rapid clinics ensuring all patients are booked in line with the Cancer RTT national target and will be responsible for tracking all patients on the cancer pathway, attending weekly meetings and ensuring all diagnostic investigations are completed within the cancer pathway deadlines.

Main duties of the job

NOLCP aims to deliver an accelerated referral to treatment of Lung Cancer and focus on tracking patients through their diagnostic investigations and those under surveillance requiring planned investigations, to ensure faster diagnosis and efficient pathways.

The post holder aims to support the Service Manager with the day-to-day operational management, ensuring that from a non-clinical perspective the speciality is running effectively and efficiently. The post holder must be adaptable and willing to work flexibly as the service progresses, and the development of the role will be led by the needs of the patient and service. Additionally, the post holder will support the operational management of the Covid Medical Day Unit (CMDU).

The post holder will work under the indirect supervision of the Lead Specialist Nurse, direct supervision of the Service Manager, and will be part of a wider management team within the Specialist Medicine directorate.

The post holder will be required to work across a range of IT systems to coordinate the booking of patient appointments. The post holder will manage a patient tracking list, and must maintain oversight over all patient waiting times, to ensure compliance with diagnostic breach targets. Previous experience within an NHS administrative role will be beneficial as will a working knowledge of the Cerner Millennium system.
