Details of the Post
The post holder will be expected to work with consultants and other colleagues within Restorative Dentistry to provide oral health education, periodontal treatment, reassessment, and patient discharge. A large proportion of the patients seen will have undergone head and neck radiotherapy, and the others are medically compromised, anxious children and adult patients with developmental disorders such as cleft lip and palate, trauma patients and patients who have undergone other oncology treatments. Under the supervision of the consultant in restorative dentistry. The hygienist will be responsible for correspondence relating to the clinics ensuring appropriate communication with referring practitioners.
These responsibilities will be supervised by clinicians within the department.
The post holder will work within a team to provide a high-quality clinical service within the framework and facilities provided. The post holder will support the department in managing and delivering 18-week pathways.
Main duties of the job

- Full mouth charting and treatment planning under the supervision of Consultants in Restorative Dentistry.
- Patient review, assessment, and discharge, under the supervision of Consultants in Restorative Dentistry.
- Be responsible for correspondence with general dental practitioners and other teams within the Trust.
- Dispensing of oral hygiene aids to patients and provide specialist clinical advice.
