Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible, and enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Older People's Inpatient service at Queen Mary's Hospital. The team works on Mary Seacole Ward, delivering inpatient rehabilitation to a predominantly older people's population

We are looking for someone who is passionate about applying their current skills and developing themselves further in the specialities of rehabilitation and frailty. Someone who thrives working in an MDT environment with like-minded clinicians who are passionate about what they do, and who has a strong interest in service development and improvement or a diverse population.

The team works closely together to provide goal-orientated, client centred, continuing rehabilitation, medical intervention and management for patients transferred from St George's Hospital acute wards and other local acute hospitals.

You will be working on our 42 bedded ward where patients have a wide range of pathologies and complexities including post-operative rehabilitation, falls, neurological conditions such as PD, dementia and other medical problems. Many of our patients are living with frailty and have complex needs requiring a high level of knowledge and skills to manage safe and effective discharges, working alongside the wider MDT team of Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Assistants and Discharge Coordinators

Main duties of the job

You will be providing physiotherapy assessment and intervention in an inpatient environment, with individuals identified for ongoing rehabilitation following an acute admission.

You will manage your own caseload, which will include many patients with complex presentations, comorbidities and frailty.

You will work as a core member of the multidisciplinary team, facilitating patient progression from admission through to discharge.

There will be opportunities to contribute towards service organisation, evaluation, development, training and learning.

This position will give you the opportunity to develop all of your skills in assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning , within a highly supportive team environment.

As a static member of the team, we will be extremely keen to support your development in the speciality area
