Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Plastics Team at St Georges University Hospital. We are looking for two successful candidates who will provide day to day operational management support to the Service Manager with the aim of ensuring that from a non-clinical perspective the speciality is running effectively and efficiently. The post holder is part of a wider management team within the Care Group.

Main duties of the job

The Assistant Service Manager is responsible for the operational delivery of a range of functions in the Plastics Care Group.

The key tasks are:

  • Ensuring that operational plans to deliver access targets are put into place
  • Managing and developing medical secretaries and other administrative staff as appropriate
  • Working closely with the Outpatient Call Centre over the management of Outpatient resources for the Care Group
  • Provision of information to support the investigation and monitoring of complaints', including co-ordinating responses to complaints as delegated by the Service Manager.
  • Management of junior medical rotas on a day to day basis, co-ordinating annual and study leave requests (and locum bookings where necessary). Highlight any potential problems to the Service Manager in a timely manner.
  • Providing support for the multi-disciplinary meetings for the Care Group.
  • Supporting the development, management and implementation of project plans for service development when applicable.
  • Managing the Plastics Hand unit and Administrative Staff.
  • Working with supporting services including the cancer services team.
