The role

The Immunology and Protein Reference Unit at South West London Pathology (SWLP) is now recruiting a Band 8a Technical Lead. The speciality hosts one of two UK Supraregional Assay Services Protein Reference Units. The laboratory is well equipped to provide a wide range of specific proteins and immunology tests for patients in SWLP and for over 100 referring laboratories. The department actively encourages development opportunities, further education and CPD activities. The department prides itself on innovation and is currently going through a period of transformational change to future proof the growing service.

Main duties of the job

Background

South West London Pathology is an award winning pathology partnership between four leading Hospital Trusts - St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals. The network is designed to provide an integrated, high quality pathology service for hospitals and GPs across South West London, by bringing together the best of each Trust's service and providing them within a single organisation.

The candidate

You should demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and have a sound knowledge and experience within Immunology. Being able to manage multiple activities and a range of responsibilities simultaneously is a must. Candidates should have demonstrable experience of leadership, management and HR processes. The appointee will work closely with the Immunology and Protein Reference Unit Manager to supervise teams.
