CLINICAL FELLOW IN PALLIATIVE MEDICINE

Main duties of the job

We have an opportunity to appoint a Clinical fellow in Palliative Medicine to support the provision of Specialist Palliative Care to the patients attending St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone needing experience in Specialist palliative Care before applying for Higher Specialist Training.

St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Palliative Care Team provides a specialist advisory service to a large teaching hospital. This post offers excellent experience and the opportunity to be part of a well established comprehensive Specialist Palliative Care Service.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration
  • MB BS or equivalent
  • MRCP(UK/I), MRCGP or equivalent

Desirable

  • Intercalated BSc or equivalent

Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Broad medical experience with some experience of palliative care patients

Desirable

  • More extensive experience in palliative care setting

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Knowledge of principles and practice of palliative care
  • Appropriate level of clinical knowledge
  • Appropriate experience and competence in common medical interventions

Research

Desirable

  • Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research in palliative medicine

Teaching

Desirable

  • Evidence of teaching experience and/or training in teaching

Personal Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligibly in written and spoken English
  • Good organisational skills
