Job summary
The Cardiac & Thoracic CNS will:
Monitor the patient's progress along the patient pathway Identify and manage any barriers to their progress to surgery Carry out Pre-Assessment Clinics Identify, order and review investigations Create appropriate treatment plans to prepare patients for surgery Refer to other clinicians (as required) Provide education & support Act as a point of contact for patients and their next of kin
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Junior Nurse Specialist Nurse for Cardiac & Thoracic Surgery to join St George's. The post holder will co-ordinate the patient pathway from referral to surgery for patients on the elective and urgent pathways, in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and thoracic clinical nurse specialist team.
The post holder will work closely within the cardiac & thoracic surgical team using their specialist knowledge and expertise in perioperative thoracic care.
They will support colleagues in the effective management of patients in their specialist area who require a high level of judgement, discretion and decision making within an inpatient or outpatient setting. The post-holder will provide education and training to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
