Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination andmanagement of the Gastroenterology Research team at St Georges Hospital. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Clinical Research Matron and wider multidisciplinary team in the management of a portfolio of early and late phase clinical trials and be accountable for the achievement of local and national targets in relation to the service.

The post holder will be involved in ensuring that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of the patient and is conducted within Good Clinical Practice Guidelines for research. The post holder will have the skills to lead by example as an expert practitioner providing organisation and leadership to the multi-professional team and supporting the patient throughout a clinical trial. The post holder will also be expected to have sufficient skills to enable patients to make informed choices concerning their involvement in clinical trials by providing advice and information and acting as the patients advocate. The post holder must also be willing to move to different clinical specialties within the remit of their qualifications and where the need to do so is identified.

Main duties of the job

The NIHR Clinical Research Facility at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Senior Clinical Research Nurse / Clinical Research Practitioner to join our diverse and enthusiastic team.

This band 7 post represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced Research Nurse / Clinical Research Practitioner. Key responsibilities of the post include the co-ordination and management of the CRF core team and an agreed early and late phase clinical research portfolio. Central to this role is responsibility for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients participating in clinical trials. You will be involved in a range of research activities, including co-ordinating study set-up and procedures and collecting data. You will need to have solid experience with research governance and have proven experience in setting up early and late phase IMP studies.

You will have excellent staff management, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, possess strong motivation and have the ability to work autonomously whilst integrating with the multidisciplinary team. You will be located in an internationally recognised busy teaching hospital investigating world leading clinical treatments and have the opportunity to develop professionally by gaining experience in delivering high quality research projects in this growing sector.
