An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Occupational Therapy Technician to join our Wolfson Neuro-rehabilitation Centre (WNRC) at Queen Mary Hospital, Roehampton.
At the WNRC we have a very well-appointed rehabilitation centre including rehabilitation gyms, kitchens and an extensive garden where our patients carry out rehab with our experienced therapy team. We also have access to state-of-the-art upper limb robotic therapy.
We promote an active learning environment and have weekly and monthly team in-services. Some of our support staff are currently working towards a professional qualification via the apprenticeship route and we are looking at expanding access to this programme. The WNRC is part of one of the largest neurosciences centres in the UK across the St Georges sites.
Whilst some experience as a therapy technician is welcome, we will provide full training for candidates with a relevant background.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining three other OT technicians in providing a service to people with complex strokes, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and functional neurological disorder, under the direction of our team of eight experienced neuro-occupational therapists. You will carry out both individual and group therapy sessions. Depending on which team you work with you will have the opportunity to specialise in specific skills including mental health interventions such as relaxation techniques; physical interventions such as upper limb rehabilitation, robotics and electrical stimulation; and cognitive rehabilitation strategies.
