An exciting opportunity has arisen to support the Matron as Ward Manager on delivery suite. The hours are 30 per week these will be 22.5hrs ward management and 7.5hrs clinical as delivery suite co-ordinator/bleep holder.

The post holder will have daily responsibility for the operational management of the Delivery Suite. The post holder will provide excellent leadership and support for the team, acting as an excellent role model to ensure the provision of women centred, evidence-based care. You will promote high standards of professional practice and ensure the delivery of high-quality care is delivered within the trust policies, protocols, and guidelines.

Main duties of the job

You will be accountable for the delivery and monitoring of robust infection control measures at ward and department level by ensuring compliance of all aspects of the Infection Control Strategy. You will provide clinical and managerial leadership to midwifery and support staff. You will be a highly skilled clinical expert with specialised knowledge in caring for women in the antenatal intrapartum and postnatal period.

It is paramount that you work with the matron for Intrapartum services to further develop triage, delivery suite and HDU. You will form close working relationship with the fetal monitoring lead midwife, HDU lead midwife, Birth centre Lead midwife and the Intrapartum Consultant Midwife. When Matron is absent you will be expected to ensure safe staffing, equipment checks completed and audit compliance.

We strive to normalise the pregnancy and birth experience for women with both high and low risk pregnancies, excelling in the provision of high risk care for women who need it, while actively increasing our homebirth rate and the option of giving birth in the midwifery led unit. We have three consultants' midwives, leading on midwifery-led care, public health and maternal medicine.
