Job summary
To support and deputise for the Theatre Sister or Charge Nurse/ODP to ensure the provision of excellent nursing care and the effective management of staff and other resources. Also to carry out the day-to-day management and co-ordination of the theatre area /department. To take charge of the unit on a regular basis and manage a cohort of staff in the department with minimal supervision. To ensure that there are education and training opportunities for all staff, including pre and post registration students and /or providing specialist knowledge if working in a clinical area where a post registration course is essential e.g. critical care setting.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for enthusiastic Band 5 RN/ODP who are interested in gaining further leadership and management skills in this innovative and busy specialty.
Successful post holder will already possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a small, busy and dedicated team. You will need to be RN or Registered ODP with a minimum of 2 years' experience in scrub ( at least 1year in cardiothoracic theatres) at band 5 level.
The successful applicant will be expected to support their Band 7 Team Leader through effective leadership and management of the team and the ability to prioritise and organise the day to day running of theatres. A positive approach which focuses on supporting and motivating others is essential as well as ability to challenge poor practice and behaviours.This position will require someone that is confident in their knowledge anddelivery of excellence in every aspect of patient care and day to day leadership.
They will be visible and assertive figure for staff, patients and relatives and able demonstrate commitment to delivering a safe, high quality current evidence based practice.
