Job summary
This is a new substantive post in Clinical Neurophysiology, with a subspecialist emphasis in Neuromuscular Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Neurology. The successful applicant would join the growing Neuromuscular Team at St George's. This post complements 6 other consultant posts within the Clinical Neurophysiology Team and 5 other consultant posts within the Neuromuscular Neurology Team.
Main duties of the job
The major roles of this post will include:
- Weekly outpatient general neuromuscular clinic (nerve, neuromuscular junction and muscle)
- Weekly outpatient subspecialist peripheral nerve clinic
- Twice weekly outpatient general EMG clinics
- Weekly outpatient complex EMG clinic, dedicated to detailed evaluation of complex neuromuscular disorders including inflammatory neuropathies that will benefit from concomitant peripheral nerve ultrasound assessment.
- Weekly inpatient neuromuscular liaison service, including clinical review of ward referrals, and undertaking inpatient neurophysiology/ultrasound studies.
- Consolidation of neuromuscular ultrasound experience and development of the neuromuscular ultrasound service.
- Attendance at the neuromuscular biopsy, neuromuscular imaging and complex myasthenia MDT meetings.
- Regular neurophysiology and neuromuscular neurology teaching to neurology registrars and the neurophysiology registrar.

Neurology is part of the Neurosciences Clinical Directorate. The directorate sits within the Division of Surgery, Neurosciences, Cancer, Theatres & Anaesthetics (SNCT).
