Job summary

The St Georges, Epsom and St. Helier University Hospitals and Health Group (GESH) is one of the largest healthcare providers in the NHS, providing health and care services to the diverse population of south west London and Surrey.

GESH is in the process of setting up a brand new Portfolio Management Office (PMO) function and requires a Head of PMO to lead this journey.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead on the development of the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) model for Group and on driving the supporting initiative/transformation programmes, taking responsibility for the development of project/programme management approach, implementation framework, universal governance and monitoring framework for a suite of programmes across the Group and Trusts (including all relevant information systems).

Core responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing the capacity, capability and function of the PMO (inc a PMO 'Service Offer')

  • Overseeing the portfolio of organisational projects/programmes, providing expert knowledge and support, monitoring progress, and reporting on the portfolio status

  • Driving the delivery of associated projects/programmes (directly supporting the Group Strategy and ambitions)

  • Development, introduction and ongoing iteration of the organisation's project delivery approach

The post holder will use specialist knowledge and proven in-depth experience in the management and supportive delivery of complex, high value transformational programmes and projects within a highly complex healthcare setting in order to deliver the programmes' benefits in full. To do this, the postholder will be expected to interpret overall health service policies and strategies in order to establish agreed goals and standards.
