Job summary

We are looking for a Dietetic Support Assistant to join our Senior Health/Acute Medical Unit teams here at St. George's hospital. Our teams cover a range of inpatient wards, out-patient clinics and also takes part in student training.

The post holder will work closely with the team members supporting them in a variety of ways to maximise the efficiency of the team. Tasks will include a variety of administrative, stock management, patient and ward related work.

Main duties of the job

The wider dietetic department consists of over 60 dietitians, who provide clinical inpatient and outpatient services to a variety of specialties including oncology, renal, neurology, haematology, paediatrics, cardiology, major trauma, gastro, surgical, diabetes, infectious diseases and HIV. The department is committed to training dietetic students and actively participates in the training programs of clinical and non-clinical staff. Essential

  • GCSE English and Maths grade 4/C minimum or equivalent qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and social care or equivalent experience / knowledge of specific patient conditions and therapeutic interventions.
  • Already hold, or willing to work toward completion of The Care Certificate.

Desirable

  • Qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 3 in Food Hygiene and Food Safety.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with clients or customers, ideally but not essentially in a healthcare, education or social care setting.
  • Experience of working in a team.

Desirable

  • Experience of working in an acute or primary care environment.
  • Experience of audits and reports writing.
