An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Department at St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as a Band 6 Specialised Physiotherapist
The Physiotherapy Department offers excellent experience in the development of musculoskeletal skills. You will join a musculoskeletal team which consists of 60 staff including eight extended scope practitioners and 3 consultant physiotherapists. The department offers an outstanding learning environment with regular in-service training, study leave opportunities, clinical supervision and close links with St Georges University London. We also run an accredited MSc ACP course and provide education for both Undergraduate and Master students. We received the Health Innovation Networks 2019 award for most innovative trust, with special mention going to the MSK Outpatient Service. We have transformed our service to deliver effective virtual care for both 1:1 and group sessions and COVID secure face to face consultations.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake a specialised musculoskeletal assessment of patients including those with complex presentations and from this assessment formulate a treatment plan and carries out this treatment as an autonomous practitioner.
- To supervise and teach recently qualified physiotherapists/physiotherapy students/assistants and other members of the MDT
- To undertake evidence-based projects, including making recommendations for change in practice and participating in departmental research and audit as appropriate.
- To deputise for physiotherapy team leaders in operational management
About us
The Trust serves a large local population and is a specialist regional centre for a number of services including plastics and complex orthopedic trauma. This Band 6 post provides experience in GP and Consultant referrals. We work within orthopedics, hands and women's health alongside outpatient clinics.
The service is provided at three main sites, St Georges Hospital Tooting, St Johns Therapy Centre, Clapham Junction and Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton with an outreach into GP surgeries. The outpatient service runs weekday extended hours from 7.30am to 7.00pm. It includes weekend work on the trauma and orthopaedics rota and any future musculoskeletal Saturday morning outpatient clinics rota, with compensatory rest days in the week.
