Job summary

The paediatric Speech and Language Therapy department within St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are dedicated to providing high quality, goal orientated, child and family focused care to all children and young people while in hospital.

The role of the Therapy Technical Instructor involves working with the Speech and Language Therapy team in partnership with parents and carers to support with speech and language as well as feeding and swallowing assessments. This will then extend to supporting with management and carrying out of swallowing and communication therapy plans while the patients are admitted. In addition to this, the Therapy Technical Instructor will support the running and coordination of the Videoflouroscopy clinic.

Main duties of the job

This is a rare post the successful candidate will work with speech and language therapists on all paediatric speech and language therapy wards and in our videoflouroscopy clinic. There is a mixture of administrative tasks and clinical work under the supervision of SLTs.

You will need:

  • Written, verbal and numeracy skills to GCSE level or similar
  • Experience of working with children and their carers
  • The ability to learn new skills and apply them under direction
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • The ability to work flexibly, under direction and independently where necessary
  • Enthusiasm, imagination and initiative
