Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the Neuro Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St George's Hospital. We are looking for candidates who are clinical experts in neurosciences intensive care and have a passion for ensuring high standards of care for this group of patients.
Main duties of the job
- Providing excellent individualised specialist nursing care to critically ill patients.
- To act as the shift leader and to work clinically as required.
- To participate in the education, training & professional development of staff individually as part of the IPR process.
- Lead/participate in audit and research pertinent to critical care.
- To act as a specialist information resource for all staff, inside and outside the unit, including medical staff new to the speciality regarding the care and treatment of critically ill patients.
- To provide follow-up services to patients requiring specialist input following discharge from NICU.
- Responsibility for holding the Adult ICU Senior Nurse bleep providing off site out of hours support when on call. Managing beds and staffing within normal working hours during the on call period. The off site on call period reimbursed with normal agenda for change terms.
- Strategic development of clinical service, to meet the future requirements of the critical care directorate.
