Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a full time, Band 8a, Quality Manager / Health and Safety Advisor for the Immunology and Protein Reference Unit, South West London Pathology (SWLP). This post is based at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Quality Manager who has an excellent understanding of quality management issues throughout Immunology. The successful candidate must have good interpersonal and IT skills as well as being self-motivated.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the department's quality management system is implemented and maintained. The department uses Q-Pulse to manage its documentation and the successful candidate will play an active role in its functionality. Candidates must be fully conversant with the ISO accreditation standards and work with all grades of staff to ensure that the department is fully compliant at all times. The post holder will also have responsibility for health and safety throughout the department.

Main duties of the job

Main aspects of the role include:

  • Monitoring the recording, investigation and management of incidents, non-conformities and risks across the network.
  • Designing the audit calendar and monitoring the completion of audits.
  • Overseeing the validation, verification and change control processes used within the network.
  • Attending local Governance meetings, ImmunologyTeam meetings and to assist and train staff in the use of the QMS.
  • Production of the monthly Quality Report.
  • Organising and managing departmental Management Reviews.
  • Organising and reporting User surveys.
  • Coordinating and liaising with the Health and safety representatives within the department to monitor the completion of the monthly Trust Health and Safety audits, performing any assessments that are required, providing information and reports as required and advising staff on health and safety issues as arise.

The candidate must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist.
