Are you ready to take the next step in your midwifery career and join our dynamic team in St George's Antenatal and Fetal Evaluation (SAFE) testing service at St. George's Hospital? Do you have the motivation, vision, and foresight to join the team, leading in the provision of a high throughput service in Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in collaboration with the SAFE test laboratory?

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, dynamic midwife who is knowledgeable in prenatal screening and care and will provide support, education and leadership to the midwifery staff, whilst working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team and maintaining your own clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with proven experience in working in screening and fetal medicine services within maternity care. You will lead with audits and service improvements; provide teaching and support clinicians using the SAFE test service, work with the laboratory operational lead to meet KPI's and support the day-to-day service. It is essential that you bring a flexible and adaptable approach to meet with the challenge of this role, supporting the multi-professional team in personalising care, enhancing quality and improving the patient experience. The SAFE Test laboratory is part of the St George's Genomics Service and has been in operation since 2015 as a joint venture with St George's Fetal Medicine Unit. The service operates from a purpose built laboratory and is currently accredited by UKAS to ISO 15189.

St George's Genomics Service is part of the wider South East Genomics Laboratory Hub, working to deliver genomics services to the South West London region.

  • Experience in relevant clinical area. Previous experience in Fetal Medicine and Day Assessment essential.
  • Also essential basic knowledge of Obstetric Ultrasound. Good knowledge of the purpose and risk of invasive prenatal diagnosis.
  • Familiarity with using E3 and Viewpoint on the Fetal Medicine Databases.
  • Knowledge of how to chase and acquire pregnancy outcomes from tertiary referrals.
