Job summary
My name is Kelly and I am the Head of Nursing for Cardiac, Vascular & Thoracic (CVT) Surgery and Cardiology at St George's Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in London.
As everyone else is advertising an "Exciting Opportunity" in their areas I thought I would explain why ours is really something different.
The ICC team offer specialized care for the diagnosis, symptoms evaluation and management of patients and families affected with inherited cardiovascular conditions. We are a multidisciplinary team working across South-West London receiving supra-regional referrals from Surrey and the UK. We work in close partnership with the Charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) with a focus on families with unexplained sudden death (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome - SADS).
Main duties of the job
The service offers dedicated clinics with a family centred approach providing an integrated "one stop" shop assessment. Clinics are dedicated to cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmias, paediatric arrhythmias, familial evaluation after a sudden cardiac death, sports cardiology, as well as an aortopathy service and adolescent and transition service. We offer specialized management advice on risk stratification for sudden death, ICD implantation and electrophysiological ablation procedures, as well as evaluation and treatment of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction with surgical myectomy and alcohol septal ablation. Furthermore, we offer cardiac screening for neuromuscular disorders and management of high risk pregnancy patients affected with inherited conditions
With all that in mind I am hoping that you are an experienced specialist ICC nurse in who is looking to become a clinical leader. That you have a passion for team development, service development of nurse led services and governance. The position offers autonomy of practice, the ability to engage in clinical audit, quality improvement and the on-going development of our outstanding ICC services.You will need excellent communication skills along with a high degree of organisational and leadership skills and must be committed to continued professional development and providing high quality patient care.
