About us
The Department of Urology employs 19 Consultant Urological Surgeons (13 based at St George's), with other colleagues holding joint appointments with neighbouring hospitals including Kingston and Epsom, St Helier and Croydon University Hospital.
St George's Hospital is a major trauma centre. The team plays a prominent part in this role in providing emergency, reconstructive and long-term urological care in these patients. In particular, the team manage the urological injuries arising from renal trauma, pelvic fracture, priapism and penile fracture.
We run a consultant of the week on-call model with separate consultant cover week nights. During this time elective activities are cancelled to allow full focus on emergency work.
St George's is part of RM Partners with the Royal Marsden Hospitals providing cancer treatment to a large volume of patients in South West London and in the wider regional network. St. George's is the primary provider for complex cancer surgery. There is the requirement to work in multidisciplinary teams.
