Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and forward thinking individual to join the Gastroenterology at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, as a Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist, on a 6 month FTC.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work with ten other Consultant Gastroenterologists. The Care Group spans the full range of inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy services and is also supported at a clinical level by specialist nurses, at least four clinical SpRs, research SpRs and four nurse endoscopists.
The appointee will have responsibility for the care of inpatients with gastrointestinal disease along with nine other colleagues and will provide three outpatient clinics per week, including the specialist management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, those referred along the two-week cancer pathway and those referred via the Gastroenterology Clinical Assessment Service (CAS). The post holder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower GI endoscopy, and will provide training in these procedures, and will provide two endoscopy lists. The post holder will have the opportunity to be part of the inpatient nutrition team. The post holder may be required to work at either at the St. George's main site, or at the community sites of Queen Mary Hospital, Roehampton, or the Nelson Hospital. The successful candidate will contribute to a Consultant-led on call rota for GI bleeding in a frequency of 1:15 and weekend review of Gastroenterology and Liver inpatients in the same frequency. This is a fixed 6-month locum post.
