Adult Speech and Language Therapist Band 7

An opportunity has arisen for us to advertise a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapy post in our Adult Service. This is role for 37.5 hours per week, is based in our Croydon Adult Out-Patient Speech and Language Therapy Service area.

You will join a supportive network of Speech and Language Therapists who work in the Community and Acute settings.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate experience and knowledge in assessment, treatment and management of patients who have acquired communication and swallowing problems following neurological events working primarily in an out-patient setting.

The post holder will be working in the hospital base but will be required to work in the Community as needed, reflecting the Integrated care approach to our patients. We work closely with our therapy and medical colleagues.

Main duties of the job

At a Highly Specialist level to assess, develop, treat and discharge adult clients referred with communication and swallowing difficulties within the main Croydon University Hospital and Community Departments, in particular the Out-Patient Voice Team.

To work as a member of the team, to provide an efficient, effective and co-ordinated Speech and Language Therapy Service. There may be work within the Community Domiciliary Speech and Language Therapy Service required at certain times.

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council - Licence to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist
  • Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses up to Master's degree equivalent
  • RCSLT member

  • Good oral & written skills/effective & succinct explanation
  • Time/caseload management skills
  • Adaptability to working environment/Assertiveness
