Audiology Clinical Lead for Adult Services

Full Time, Band 8A

We are excited to advertise a full-time Clinical Lead post in our Acute Audiology Team at Croydon University Hospital. This role offers an excellent opportunity to lead and collaborate with our Senior Specialist Audiologist/Hearing Therapist (Vestibular Rehabilitation), as well as take the lead on Diagnostics (Electrophysiology) and Rehabilitation services for adults in Croydon.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Specialist Audiologist (1 WTE, 37.5 hours/week) with a strong background in adult audiology and electrophysiology, including team leadership. Please refer to the person specification for required qualifications.

Our Adult and Electrophysiology Service is well-established since 1980. The successful candidate will work closely with senior team members to deliver a high-quality, patient-focused service.

The department includes an Audiology Manager, 8 Audiologists, 2.2 Assistant Audiologists, and a dedicated admin team. We are known for our supportive and friendly team environment.

Services include ENT diagnostics, audiovestibular investigations, hearing aid provision, and electrophysiology.

Croydon, in South London, offers excellent transport links and on-site staff parking.

Main duties of the job

Clinical lead for Adult Audiology and Electrophysiology Service

Management of the Adult Audiology and Electrophysiology Department

Liaison with senior managers / attending directorate meetings /ENT / Children's Hearing Team

Leading on development of the service and the quality of the service

System administrator for the Audiology patient management system

Liaising with IT / Finance / HR / Workforce / Occupation Health

Liaising and working with other Heads of Audiology Services across South West London Sector, pan-London and other Audiology Services around the country, as required.

Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.

  • BSc in Audiology or BTEC (NC) in Medical Physics & Physiological Measurement (MPPM) BAAT parts I & II with specialist interest in rehabilitation or equivalent qualification. M.Sc. modules in Audiology Evidence of continuing personal development

Desirable

  • M.Sc. in Audiology Certificate of Clinical Competence or HTS modules Counselling qualifications Courses completed in management and/or leadership Registered or qualified for professional registration

Knowledge and Understand

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience in all aspects of Audiology. Proven management skills Highly developed specialist knowledge of electrophysiological testing. Up to date knowledge of advances and changes in Audiology Developed counselling skills for providing the results and management plans to patients based on the outcome of the testing. Experience of staff training and development Conversant with Child Safety/Protection Issues, Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding, Data Protection Issues and Health and Safety Issues Understanding of Clinical Governance and audit Understanding of the Modernisation of Hearing Aid Services and other NHS initiatives affecting Audiology Knowledge of business and workforce planning
