Job summary
Dental Nurse Specialist - Part-time (13.5 horus)
The post holder will be supported by the Dental Nurse Manager, Senior Dental Nurses, RGN's & multidisciplinary team to undertake all relevant aspects of dental nursing and patient management: andbe expected to act in an accountable manner, adhering to relevant codes of conduct and Trust policies.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties Summary:
Assist dental practitioner with dental treatment: providing pre and post operative dental hygiene advice to patients in specialist dental areas e.g. orthodontic, maxillo-facial
Carry out dental radiography
Prepare materials, instruments, equipment for specialist dental practitioner
Provide day to day or clinical supervision to less experienced staff.
The post holder will always be expected to provide a high standard of care by:
Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of patient care
Working closely with the department/ward manager, and multi-disciplinary team members, in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care, staff and service development within the department/ward environment
Carry out all relevant forms of care under supervision and when proficient, demonstrate procedures of care; supervise junior qualified and/or unqualified staff including student nurses, all whilst maintaining a safe working environment.
