Inpatient Specialist Respiratory Lead

We have an exciting opportunity for a physiotherapist to join our Acute Therapy Team to lead the Inpatient Respiratory service for adults across Croydon Health Services. The Acute Service also provide the respiratory input for the paediatric ward. The successful candidate will support and develop the respiratory service alongside the Team Lead Band 7 Physiotherapist for Critical Care and Medicine and provide support for all complex respiratory patients across all inpatients wards. They will also lead for maintaining staff competencies on Weekend and On Call rota.

Candidates should display evidence of extensive clinical adult experience across acute medicine, Critical Care and surgery and relevant paediatric respiratory experience. They should have an ability to prioritise, have highly effective communication styles and be able demonstrate organisational skills.

We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to be able to provide a specialist resource to other healthcare staff/patients/carers. The Trust supports ongoing development including opportunity for further advanced study.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide professional leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high quality and effective patient care in adult respiratory therapy and support paediatric services.
  • To actively participate in the weekend and on call rota
  • To work with the OCL to develop the respiratory therapy service for adults and paediatrics
  • To act as ambassador for the therapy team
  • To demonstrate through personal behaviours the core values of the Trust.
  • Keep up to date with new developments, undertaking audit to evaluate practice and liaising with multidisciplinary colleagues
  • To undertake a therapy clinical specialty team leader role in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the therapy service provided on a day-to-day basis within inpatient services.
  • To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of physiotherapy staff delivering respiratory physiotherapy care, supported by the OCL.
