Consultant in Colorectal and General Surgery with interest in joint Endometriosis surgery

Croydon Health Services Trust provides a broad range of elective and emergency services to a population of almost 400,000 across the borough of Croydon and delivered across Croydon University Hospital (450-bed inpatient) and Purley War Memorial Hospital (outpatient).

The department wishes to appoint a substantive Consultant in Colorectal and General Surgery with interest and experience in provision of joint Endometriosis surgery. JAG colonoscopy accreditation is essential. Experience in robotic surgery and establishment of a robotic surgical service, as well as a relevant research portfolio and higher degree, are desirable. Applicants should also demonstrate experience in management responsibilities. This post forms part of a department of seven Colorectal consultants with a diverse range of subspecialty interests and the post-holder will participate in a 1:10 on-call.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will contribute to the development and delivery of inpatient, outpatient and emergency work and will specifically concentrate on the development of pathways for the management of acutely presenting colorectal disease. The appointee will also focus on increasing the department's capability in managing day surgery proctology play an active role in joint surgery for complex endometriosis. Consequently, the successful candidate is expected to work closely within an MDT setting with Colorectal surgical colleagues, Gastroenterologists and Gynaecological Endometriosis surgeons.

Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.
