Job summary
This varied and exciting permanent post provides an excellent opportunity to develop your specialist clinical practice and gain experience in a well-regarded and established psycho-oncology service. You will be working with patients and families within a supportive, specialist team as part of the Macmillan Cancer Psychological Support Team (CaPS) at Croydon University Hospital. The service offers a range of therapeutic approaches for patients including existential psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, dramatherapy and compassion focused therapy. You will be supported in developing your existing clinical skills and gaining experience of working in a health setting. You will be working within a network of experienced health professionals to help provide co-ordinated, personalised cancer care.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated therapist with experience of working with cancer or physical health. You will be expected to meet with patients and families to assess, formulate and provide the delivery of care. You will also provide consultation, training and supervision to staff regarding psychological care within Croydon University Hospital and community services, such as GPs, Mental Health Services, voluntary sector services and other disciplines and agencies.

There are regular support structures in place such as weekly peer supervision, joint nursing and psychology meetings, and support for monthly individual supervision. - The post-holder will be a core member of the Macmillan Cancer Psychological Support (CaPS) Service, responsible for the assessment of psychological need and the provision, development and delivery of high-quality therapeutic psychotherapy services for patients, families and carers; in accordance with the UKCP Ethical Framework for Good Practice.
- The post-holder will contribute to on-going service development of a comprehensive multidisciplinary Macmillan Cancer Psychological Support (CaPS) Service. The post-holder will support the development and provision of Psychological Services throughout the Trust, both for inpatient and outpatient settings.
- This is a specialist role within the psycho-oncology service that requires the psychotherapist to be confident and able to work autonomously and in an independent capacity as well as working closely with the multi-disciplinary Service.
- The post-holder will provide emotional and psychological advice, support and guidance to staff, both in relation to patients and the staff themselves.

- Demonstration of the application of evidence-based practice and knowledge of professional issues
- Awareness of cancer related and end of life issues
- Experience working within a healthcare setting
- Experience working with a diverse group of clients (gender, age, ethnicity etc)
