Job summary
The phlebotomy Department provides a vital support service to theTrust ensuring that blood samples are obtained from patient's forpathology.
We are looking for a full time, part time and bank phlebotomiststhat are enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated, hardworking teamplayers to join our very busy, friendly phlebotomy team at CroydonHealth Services NHS Trust
Experience in phlebotomy is an essential requirement for this postand you will be required to work in our busy outpatientdepartments at Croydon and Purley War Memorial Hospital, in award environment providing a phlebotomy service to in-patients. Inaddition, to provide a phlebotomy service to Anti-Coagulationpatients in a clinic environment or the patient's own home.
You will be required to work days, evenings, weekends and bankholidays on a rota basis. .

Main duties of the job
Obtain blood samples from patients for laboratory analysis by way of a venous or capillary sample in a ward, out-patient, clinic environment or the patients own home.
Ensure that all venous blood samples that have been collected are dispatched, collected and logged into Cerner, any missed samples are recorded and the requesting clinician is notified.
Ensure the accurate labelling of blood sample tubes, making sure that the correct labels are placed on the corresponding tube.
Ensure that details of patients latest INR result is recorded accurately both in the patients Anticoagulation Therapy Record Book (yellow book) and the coag-u-check Record log,kept in the anticoagulation clinic.
Ensure that Requesting clinicians are informed of any failed bleeds and the reason why in accordance with the Phlebotomy/Cerner SOP.
