This is a fixed term post in Obstetrics & Gynaecology with effect as soon as possible.
The Obstetrics and Gynaecology department provides care for women in Croydon Borough and beyond. Obstetrics is delivered from self-contained unit and gynaecology from combined surgical wards. In addition, there are Day Care beds for Gynaecology patients. The Maternity Unit has 11 delivery rooms and a designated Theatre Suite, including 2 Operating Theatres and Recovery Area. The Postgraduate Centre, including Medical Library, is situated immediately above the Ante-Natal and Gynaecology clinics.
Main duties of the job
TRUST GRADE REGISTRAR (ST3+) IN OBSTETRICS & GYNAECOLOGY
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology are looking to recruit two Trust Grade Registrars (ST3+ level) within Obstetrics & Gynaecology to commence as soon as possible. Applicants will have at least 3 years' experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and have MRCOG part 1 or equivalent. The posts will be for one year initially with the possibility of extension for the appropriate appointee.
Croydon University Hospital is large DGH serving a diverse population and the successful candidate will gain a wealth of NHS experience in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Candidates will also be able to pursue specific skills depending on their level of competence and experience.
There are 18 full-time Consultants and other specialist colleagues working less than full time. The middle and junior grade is staffed by a variety of doctors including Associate Specialist, Specialist Registrars/StR3+, General Practice Vocational Scheme (GPVTS) trainees and foundation doctors.

- Supervision and day-to-day care of ward patients.
- General supervision of the wards.
- Taking part in antenatal and gynaecology clinics with the Consultant.
- Ward rounds on the Labour Ward.

Teaching and Training Responsibilities
- The Registrar is involved in teaching of junior staff, nurses and medical
students.
- The Registrar will assist with organisation of Departmental meetings and

The Specialist Registrars are required to keep a personal development file and to keep this up to date. They are expected to become fully involved with the educational activities of the department and also to become involved with the teaching of medical students, which are organised at intervals throughout the year.
