Senior Music Therapist Band 7
The Indigo Team provides a specialist Drama and Music therapy and family support service for children and young people who have a life-threatening or life limiting illness, chronic conditions, complex learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and those who have experiences a trauma due to diagnosis, treatment or prognosis. Support is also provided for siblings, pre and post bereavement and bereaved children when a parent dies in the Hospital or community. Drama and Music therapy is currently undertaken with individual children and small groups, in the hospital, schools or at the child's home.
We are seeking a dynamic, innovated and resilient Music therapist who specialises in working with CYP with complex needs and behaviour challenges. A flexible approach and the ability to work with complex issues and special needs is required along with experience of working with children and young people. You will work closely with the neurodisability team in providing a Tier 2/3 Mental health & behavioural service.
You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Team and individual clinical supervision will be provided.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a dynamic, innovated and resilient Senior Music Therapist who will work closely alongside The Paediatric Neurodisability Nursing Team and will manage their own caseload and provide comprehensive assessments and evidence based interventions. Post holders will be expected to contribute to the formulation of a child or young person's care plan from a learning disability and neuropsychological perspective and deliver therapy to support children and young people to access their person specific behaviour support plans and deliver parenting groups for parents of CYP with learning disabilities.
A flexible approach and the ability to work with complex issues and special needs is required along with experience of working with children and young people

- Recognised accredited post graduate qualification in Music Therapy
- Registration with HPCP
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
- Additional training in working with Autism and LD CYP
Knowledge

- Demonstrated knowledge of bereavement and attachment theory
- Able to demonstrate an in depth understanding of current issues affecting community health services including eg. clinical effectiveness, evidenced based care and clinical governance
- Specialist knowledge and awareness of Legislation and Policy relating to children with complex and continuing health care needs
- A good knowledge of the health needs of children and young people with learning disabilities including, physical health, behaviour and mental health needs.
- Sound knowledge of professional, ethical and cultural standards relating to work with children and young people with learning disabilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of the complex issues involved when working across organisations and disciplines
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience of reflective practice
