Job summary

This post has been created to offer a structured experience to simulation teaching in general paediatrics. Participation in out-of-hours delivery of general paediatrics is expected but dedicated time on the rota for medical simulation is provided. In-house training in simulation teaching is available and the post-holder will be expected to develop his/her simulation teachingskills. In addition to innovation/research, the post holder will be expected to assist with the established paediatric simulation programmes in Croydon. These include:1. Paediatric department internal simulation once monthly2. Mobile paediatric simulation with cross-specialty multidisciplinary input once monthly3. Paediatric sepsis simulation course quarterly4. Paediatric Retrieval and Acute Multi-disciplinary simulation (PRAMS) course quarterly5. Neonatal simulation course

Applicants are invited to apply for the above post at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust to commence 7th March 2023 for 6 months- extendable to 1 year. This post complies with the junior doctor's hours regulations.

Croydon University hospital is a large District General Hospital with links to the local Teaching hospitals. The Paediatric Department has 15 Consultants; 17 middle grades and 15 SHO equivalents as well as a well-developed Children's Hospital at Home Team service. There is shared oncology with Marsden, Middlesex and Great Ormond Street hospitals.The Department has an excellent reputation for teaching and training and there are good opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their own teaching skills.

Croydon University Hospital has a delivery rate of 4,000 a year and is a sub-regional Centre for Neonatal Intensive Care. The Unit has HFO as well as conventional ventilation, and cooling.The successful candidate should have MRCPCH (part 1) or equivalent with full GMC registration as well as a minimum of two years' experience at SHO level in Paediatrics. Part 2 holders would be an advantage. Applicants must be able to display organisational skills for the further development of the post.
