Junior Sister - Queens 1
Are you an experienced registered nurse looking for your next position in one of our elective post operative ward? Have you got an interest in working in General Surgery ward looking after elective post- operative elective patients and have the opportunity to be trained to look after Surgical Enhanced Care Unit (SECU) patients? We are looking for an experienced nurse with excellent clinical and communication skills to lead and coordinate the ward efficiently. An exciting opportunity has arisen on Queens 1 ward at Croydon University Hospital, a 28 female bedded general surgery and SECU ward, for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our friendly team.
Applicants should have some experience of caring for the patients under general surgery, with knowledge of gynae procedures and an enthusiasm in learning and developing new and existing pathways within the Gynae and General Surgery care environment.

Main duties of the job
The post holder deputises for the ward manager, ensuring the effective running of the department in his/her absence. Working closely with the ward manager and senior nurse, the deputy ward manager is responsible for the delivery of professional nursing care to meet patient need according to the standard agreed in the Performance Management Framework and the Nursing Strategy.
In addition the post holder is also responsible for providing clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff, facilitating practice development within the clinical area. The post holder will also be involved in developing services related to pre-assessment.
The post holder will organise own time and that of junior staff, delegating to junior staff and learners, and participating in teaching and education programmes for staff and patients.
