Job summary

To assist the Service to develop and deliver high quality, patient / service user focused and cost effective pathways and service meeting the requirements of our commissioners and the Trust's Annual Business Plan. To contribute to the overall divisional strategy in providing and developing a working environment and open culture which fosters high morale and commitment among all staff and promotes their wellbeing, professional and personal development.

Main duties of the job

To assist the Service Manager to develop and deliver high quality, patient-focused and cost-effective pathways within the Hepatology services, meeting the requirements of thecommissioners and the Trust's Annual Business Plan.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Assist the Divisional Management Team in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Division.

Support the delivery of the Hepatology Service, with a main focus on the Hepatitis Emergency Department (ED) Testing Service

Lead the development and management of databases relating to the Hepatology and Hepatitis ED testing service

Support the tracking of key patient cohorts with the databases created within the Hepatology and Hepatitis ED testing service

Support delivery of identified quality and service redesign improvement projects.

Support with the management of the 18-week performance for the Trust ensuring the access policy is followed across Hepatology.

Provide weekly reporting on Hepatology 18-week performance and support capacity planning.

Assist with budget management for pay and non-pay within service areas.

Ensure Division activities support patient care within available resources and strategic direction.

Ensure excellent, patient-focused and cost-effective services responsive to patient and GP needs.

Set and review standards of inpatient and outpatient services in line with national and local targets.

Respond to complaints in accordance with Trust policy and ensure remedial action is taken.

Support the achievement of CIP and QIPP targets in collaboration with stakeholders.

Ensure efficient organisation of services including coordination of consultant and junior doctors leave.

Assist with performance monitoring reports, activity trends, and business cases for service development.

Foster a culture free from harassment and bullying, respecting dignity and diversity.

Assist the Associate General Manager with recruitment, management, and development of non-medical staff.

Conduct appraisals and identify training needs in line with Trust Performance Management Guidance.

Support sickness management, staff discipline, grievance, and performance issues.

Encourage staff development and sharing of best practices across services.

Establish effective communication with internal and external partners.

Assist the Associate General Manager in managing budgets to maximise resources.

Support preparation of the Annual Service Plan and attend budget meetings.

Ensure services achieve contracted activity and access targets.

Advise the Associate General Manager of trends and variances.

  • Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience at postgraduate level
