Job summary
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust are looking to appoint a Consultant Paediatrician with an interest in cardiology to provide clinical support to the general paediatric department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) Woolwich. The post holder will have responsibility to deliver a general paediatric service and manage a clinical caseload. No NICU cover is expected.
Main duties of the job
This is a consultant post in general paediatrics at Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust providing clinical support to the general paediatric department. A sub-speciality interest in paediatric cardiology is required. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic consultant paediatrician, who is committed to maintaining the highest standards in patient care, and who shares in the team vision to develop the paediatric services at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

Essential
- Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent MRCP/MRCPCH or equivalent Full and Specialist registration (and with a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview. Applicants that are UK trained, must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants that are non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT and be on the GMC Specialist Register/Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) application in a non-CCT specialty awaiting approval. Training relating to Paediatric Cardiology. APLS/EPLS provider status (up to date). Child Protection/Safeguarding training (minimum Level 3) up to date

- Experience and training equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Paediatrics. Recent experience/familiarity of UK hospital systems and practices. Experience in managing children in the acute general ward, ambulatory and outpatient setting. Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on and manage a range of problems in the acute Paediatric setting, including safeguarding issues. Ability to deal with complex clinical situations in the core areas of the post.
