Job summary

The Voluntary Services Lead will be responsible for developing and supporting the growth and sustainability of the Voluntary Services, including increasing the number of volunteers at the trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will lead on developing and implementing the Voluntary services strategy and plan including recruitment, facilitating the relevant training, deploy and manage volunteers by leading the Voluntary Services Team. The post holder will also lead the development of internal and external relationships at all levels including Trust colleagues, voluntary sector, community groups and education sector to maximise opportunities for joint working with the Trust.

They will also be responsible for driving and developing projects which support the creation of innovative volunteer systems, programmes and roles as well as providing monitoring and analysis to evaluate their success.

  • Educated to post graduate qualification level or equivalent.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Strong understanding of working with volunteers, and effective deployment of volunteers in a health care setting.
  • Experience in delivering excellent supporter/customer service and an understanding of the importance of this.
  • Clear vision of how to utilise volunteers in creative ways.
  • Experience of working in the acute sector NHS.
  • Experience of working building positive and effective relationships with colleagues at all levels, peers and volunteers.
  • Experience in a managerial role at the equivalent of a band 7 in the NHS.
  • Experience of interacting with community groups, and patient centred charitable organisations and an understanding of the challenges faced by such organisations.
  • Methodological approach to problem solving and ability to review and redesign the service according to need and legislation
