Job summary

The role presents an exciting opportunity to work in close partnership with Lewisham Council Children's Services on the 'Families First for Children' (FFC) pathfinder programme. Lewisham is one of a handful of areas across the country that have been selected by the Department for Education to test a package of innovative reforms to the way that safeguarding services are delivered to children, young people and families, before these are implemented on a national scale. • The post holder will assess complex situations and sensitive information relating to CYP safeguarding and support robust risk assessment, care planning and decision making in line with relevant local and national policy and guidance.
  • Will demonstrate an understanding of the legislative framework and statutory guidance that underpins safeguarding children and young people.
  • Be aware of the recommendations from the Children's Act , National Guidance 'Working Together to Safeguard Children' (2018 & 2023) and the Intercollegiate Document 2019 and Stable Homes, Built on Love (2023)
  • Be aware of the relevance for practice from Safeguarding Child Practice reviews, domestic homicide reviews and other case review findings.
