An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clerk to join the Maternity Self-referral Team which has introduced a new pathway to manage women who book for maternity care at LGT.

This role comprises working and liaising with a multi-professional teams receiving maternity self-referrals, opening maternity encounters, ordering ultrasound scans, maintaining an accurate self-referral spreadsheet and general administration duties.

Main duties of the job

Your duties will include but not be limited to:

Being based in the self referral office with the clerks and Lead midwife where you will

process maternity referrals daily: Ensuring they are teamed, dated and triaged in a correct and timely manner whilst following the referral and booking pathway.

You will liaise with patients, clerks and community midwives regarding booking appointments, ensuring appointment DNA's are kept to a minimum.

You will contact the patients by telephone, text and/or letter regarding their referral/appointments, ensuring patient confidentiality is met at all times and any issues are dealt with sensitively and compassionately.

You will be responsible for requesting first maternity ultrasound scans accurately based on the details on the referral form to ensure a scan is offered at the correct gestation in pregnancy and is clinically appropriate.

You will answer the self referral phone line politely and assist patients with any questions and queries they have, signposting them to the correct team or midwife if need be.

You will also reschedule appointments as and when require
