Job summary
A rare opportunity to join a highly renowned multidisciplinary voice clinic team (nationally and internationally) and to deal with a huge spectrum of patients with voice disorders and functional swallowing disorders. The team is known for the very high quality of service they provide, multiple research publications, outstanding professional support and clinical development. The clinic was among the first voice clinics to be established in the UK (1984) and has been providing an exemplary diagnostic and interventional skills to a wide range of voice disorders since. It continues to be a leading service in the field of voice with the team speaking regularly in national and international conferences, as well as participating in shaping the guidelines for managing voice disorders and developing clinical skills for voice professionals.
Main duties of the job
To lead on and provide a highly specialist input to voice disordered patients presenting with voice disorders arising from a wide range of aetiologies in outpatient setting. The role includes second opinions specialist advice, teaching other osteopaths and professionals and supervising students. It also involves responsibilities in service development and maintaining quality of care as well as clinical governance responsibility for the area
To work to national and locally implemented clinical and professional guidelines such as the General Osteopathic Council guidelines for practice
To be accountable for own professional action and recognise own professional boundaries through interpretation of clinical/professional policies.
To maintain advanced clinical skills within the specialisms of ENT and to maintain accurate and contemporaneous records of ongoing professional development. To attend relevant advanced training and development courses, clinical supervision and short courses, in order to maintain highly specialist skills.
To provide formal and informal training, supervision, second opinions, advice and support to less senior osteopaths within the clinical areas of ENT and to participate in appraisal of these members of staff under the direction of the Lead ENT Consultant.
