They will be supported by a suitable senior manager or population health advisor during their placement.

Key areas of work that we expect the Fellow to focus on will include:

  • Supporting elective recovery and reducing health inequalities
  • Improving data quality for protected characteristics and other vulnerable groups
  • Core20PLUS5
  • Other Lewisham system priorities, including supporting prevention and wellbeing, children and young people and mental health for all

Main duties of the job

  2. To establish how our information system (HealtheIntent) could support local work and translate data into actionable insights
  3. To engage with clinical leads to set up and lead any working groups required to drive forward and manage the projects
  4. To agree the characteristics and activity to case-find patients
  5. To agree what the expected outcomes would be for projects
  6. To support the development of a dashboard (or other tools if required) for end-users to support case-finding based on the above criteria
  7. To agree the relevant interventions with colleagues based on the areas where the data suggests there is room for improvement
  8. Facilitate MDT discussions as required
  9. To agree how to realise benefits and monitor those benefits
  10. To agree how they would embed the work as BAU
  11. To present project(s) as and when requested
  12. To consider wider dissemination of their project(s) through write-ups or sharing with other partners

About us

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Mary's Hospital in Sidcup.

As an organisation, we've made significant improvements for patients and staff in the last two and-a-half years. This is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection (from February 2020), which found improvements across the organisation and gave us an improved rating of "Good" in the Well-Led and Effective domains, in addition to the rating of "Good" that we had already achieved in the Caring domain. Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust's improvement journey, as we've stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention. We've also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.
