Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Haematology Team in the Haemophilia service at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust based at the University Hospital Lewisham site as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP).

The role of the Advanced Practitioner is as a non-medical practitioner, working as part of the Clinical Haematology team, under the supervision of a Consultant Haematologist.

This post is open to Advanced clinical practitioners, trainee Advanced clinical practitioners or clinicians looking to embark on the trainee ACP pathway. Trainee practitioners will commence in post at band 7 and the permanent offer and grading at 8a subject to achieving MSc in Advanced Practice. If applying as a trainee this is a full-time post and to apply, you need to have a first degree in health-related discipline that includes a research focused module.

Main duties of the job

They will monitor and improve standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. They will participate in clinical governance within the service by undertaking audit and research as part of the MDT.

The post holder will provide clinical expertise and advice for haemophilia patients. They will demonstrate a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of haematological conditions.

Be involved in consultant clinics and and develop nurse led haemophilia services. They will have a key role within the MDT acting as a liaison between all members of the multi-disciplinary team, to allow for seamless and efficient care.

An exciting opportunity is now available for a fully qualified ACP (B8a) to join the Haematology service at University Hospital Lewisham, part of Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

The post holder will be an experienced ACP with the skills to autonomously assess, investigate, treat, and refer patients attending the Haemophilia and Haematology service with confirmed and undifferentiated diagnosis.

Applicants will have a full MSC in advanced practice or comparable qualifications and will be able to evidence a portfolio of practice with a relevant speciality.

The post holder will work closely with the interdisciplinary teams and collaborate with colleagues to ensure that high quality patient care is maintained.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to the daily management and auditing processes of the service an interact frequently with relevant stake holders both within the organisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Clinical
  • Delivery of the evidence based expert clinical care exercising a high degree of professional autonomy, demonstrating the ability to make sound decisions based on the knowledge and experience.
  • Holistic individual consultation of patients using a range of different assessment methods including medical history taking, physical assessment, clinical investigations and risk stratifications tools, all of these appropriate to the presentation within the boundaries of the role.
