Job summary

The post holder will be a substantive Consultant General Radiologist. This post aims to support the routine clinical work and to further develop the sub-specialty interests in the department. Our current needs are predominantly for support of the Paediatric services across the Trust, but all sub-specialties will be considered if it complements the skills mix of the department.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work on both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) sites to support and develop the radiology services on both sites, although the base site (UHL) will be where the predominant general work and on call will be undertaken.

For those unable or not wishing to work full time, consideration will be given to a part time appointment.

Consideration will also be given to potential cross-trust appointments with other NHS trusts if the candidate had skills or research which need programmed time elsewhere.

The appointment will be remunerated at 10 PAs and this will be divided into 8.5 PAs Direct clinical care and 1.5 PA Supporting professional activities, or a 9:1 split depending on how much involvement with supporting activities will be undertaken. This is for discussion if application is successful.

This will include 1 MRI, 1 CT list, 1 plain film reporting , 1 fluoroscopy and 2 ultrasound sessions. All consultants will additionally support the Duty Radiologist role. There will be additional sessions to support a special interest in line with the services and trusts strategic direction. Time will be allocated to support preparation for and participation in MDTs if required.

Clinical Responsibilities

  1. To provide high quality health care for patients referred for diagnosis and treatment, including outpatients, inpatients.
  2. To contribute to the general radiology work of the Trust and assist in achieving all waiting time targets including 2 and 18 week waits
