This is a substantive consultant post in Pain Medicine. We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic colleague, who is committed to maintain the highest standards in patient care, and who shares the team vision to develop the Pain services at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
Main duties of the job
- To maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of patients under your care
- To join colleagues in the smooth running of Acute and Chronic Pain services in our Trust
- To participate in teaching, audit, management and clinical governance
Ensure active participation in continuing professional development (CPD)

The 10 PAs plan comprises of 8.5 PAs of direct clinical care (DCC) and 1.5 PA of supporting professional activity (SPA). This post is expected to involve cross site daytime sessions. The overall commitment in the job plan will be annualised with regard to sessions worked.
The job plan outlined in Appendix 1 of the Job Description is intended to demonstrate what a typical week will look at UHL, an example plan is given. The weekly layout of the job plan may ultimately change slightly, but the substance of the sessions the DCC/SPA split will not. The DCC PA activity undertaken covering this contributes to the DCC PA component of the annualised job plan.
The department may be able to accommodate some requests with regards to working patterns, including less than full time job plans or anaesthetic DCC activity.

Essential
- MBBS or equivalent
- Full Registration with GMC with licence to practise
- Registered on GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia; has received Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in anaesthesia, or is within six months of anticipated receipt at time of interview
- FRCA or equivalent
Desirable
- Post Graduate Degree related to chronic pain e.g. MD, PhD, MSc
- Completion of Advanced Pain Training or equivalent
