Job summary
We are seeking a Speciality Doctor Community Paediatrics and Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering to join our Community Paediatric Medical Team and be part of a dynamic and experienced team of Community Paediatricians striving to deliver the best possible care for children and young people in the London Borough of Lewisham.
The team provides a full range of community paediatric services, in an active and progressive department, which has close links with the wider Children's Community health teams, Local Authority, tertiary services, primary care and voluntary sector. Lewisham Community Children and Young People's Services were awarded an "outstanding rating" following CQC inspection in 2017.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in all aspects of Community Paediatrics, suited to their experience and competencies and the priorities of service provision. The post holder will undertake assessment and management of children whose care plan is for adoption or fostering. They will participate in the safeguarding rota.
There are no out of hours on-call commitments but the post holder will contribute to the daytime child protection rota. Sexual abuse medicals are carried out at the regional centre and are not part of this role.

Lewisham specialist community child health services are based at Kaleidoscope, a purpose-built centre for children and young people, which houses multiagency teams including the Community Paediatricians, Community Children's nurses, School Health Service Therapists, CAMHS, Social Care Children with Complex Needs, Special Educational Needs, Educational Psychology and Sensory teams. Multidisciplinary and multiagency team working is an essential component to our services' success. There is very excellent joint working across Acute and Community Paediatric services and CAMHS, and between health and other agencies

- MRCPCH/ MRCP or equivalent
Desirable
- MSc /Diploma in community child health or relevant subject

- Sound training and knowledge in paediatrics
- Experience of working with vulnerable children and young people and families and children in challenging situations.
- Able to work effectively across organisational boundaries
