Job summary

At Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Transitional Care nurse to join our Multi-Professional Team, within the Lewisham Hospital maternity ward, in its deliverance of high quality care to our women/birthing people and their families.

If you have the experience below, we would like your help in supporting women/birthing people and their families. You will be involved in assessing, planning and delivering care to transitional care babies on the postnatal ward, to meet their daily needs and those of their families. You will assist parents/carers to enable them to develop the necessary skills they will need prior to taking their baby home.

You MUST:

  • Have previous maternity/ paediatric experience to be considered for this role.
  • Be able to perform neonatal observations and recognise deviations from normal.
  • Be competent in providing infant feeding support
  • Have good communication skill

Main duties of the job

This role comprises working within a Multi - Professional Team delivering high quality, evidenced based care to women and their families. This will include providing care and support to postnatal women/birthing people and their babies, phlebotomy, infant feeding support and advice, and maintenance of essential equipment. This is a small team soyou must be prepared to work the full range of shifts including LD, nights and weekends and bank.

We are looking for staff to work on our University Hospital Lewisham site to support mothers and babies in staying together. You will be excited to develop your current skills and be involved in supporting and teaching both parents/carers and support workers.

You will be able to recognise a change in a baby's condition taking appropriate action and informing the medical/midwifery staff as necessary so that the babies receive the appropriate help.

You will be required to give advice on the mothers /birthing persons preferred method of infant feeding.
