Job summary
Due to service expansion Lewisham and Greenwich Healthcare NHS Trust are recruiting to a nurse colposcopist and lead cervical screening programme lead position. The successful candidate will be an independent BSCCP accredited nurse colposcopist with the knowledge and experience to manage the demands of a cervical screening programme lead, in line with UKHSA requirements set out here : NHS Cervical Screening Programme: the role of the cervical screening provider lead - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
Working with the service lead and lead nurse colposcopist, consultants, histopathologists and the part time cervical screening programme lead the post holder will deliver and help expand an expert service across the organisation supported by a robust job plan.
Main duties of the job
You will practice as an independent BSCCP accredited Nurse Colposcopist leading onstandards of care, improving and developing these to ensure they incorporate up to date professional recommendations (including BSCCP and NHSCSP) and evidence-based practice. You will act as a single point of reference for the Trust programmes for Primary Care Trust representatives and Regional Quality Assurance Team /Public Health England. By helping to co -ordinate, attend and contribute to MDT meetings you will play a key role in ensuring optimal care standards are met and maintained for all women accessing the colposcopy department.
Key to the role will be that you ensure systems are in place to register newly diagnosed cases of cervical cancer, that you co-ordinate the audit of cases in invasive cervical cancer and that you lead on the production of annual and bi- annual reports as required by cervical screening commissioners and the quality assurance reference centre.
You will have the opportunity to help in the development and succession planning of nurses undertaking colposcopy training.
