Job summary
The Trust is seeking to appoint a General Practitioner to work in the new Rapid Diagnostic Centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Woolwich, which is a part of the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust as part of the department of Ambulatory Care.
Main duties of the job
We are developing a new Rapid Diagnostic Clinic at QEH. This will be a new site in South East London (SEL) as part of the SEL Cancer Alliance. This post will be based at QEH. The post holder will be pivotal in leading the RDC, this will include a single point of access to a diagnostic pathway for all patients with symptoms that could indicate cancer; personalised, accurate and rapid diagnosis of patients' symptoms by integrating existing diagnostic provision and utilising networked clinical expertise and information locally.

The site currently has the following services including: Accident and Emergency, Coronary Care including angiography and PCI, Intensive Care & High Dependency Unit, Maternity and Special Care Baby Unit, Paediatrics, Surgery, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Medicine, Oncology, Haematology, Neurology, Dermatology, Rheumatology and out-patient services. We have 7 main theatres, 2 day theatres and state-of-the art imaging including MRI and interventional radiology services, and laboratory facilities so able to provide a full range of clinical and support service.

Delivery of 3 clinical sessions (1 and a half days) this would include a full day at QEH Hospital in the Outpatient clinic with a half day for telephone follow-up consultations and clinical administration (can be done remotely). This will involve a combination of triage discussion of primary care referrals with Advanced Nurse Practitioners as well as seeing new patients referred to the service and undertaking telephone follow up.
- 1 non-clinical session (half day) for training, GP networking and service delivery or research/education
- Multidisciplinary team meeting with other RDC members on a weekly basis in order to discuss ongoing referrals & difficult cases
- Provision of advice to primary care referrers directly during clinical session if required
