Senior Clinical Fellow (Internal Medicine Trainee 3 IMT3 - ST3+/ SPR level) within Acute, General & General Medicine
Commencing As soon as possible, for 6 months (with a view to extend)

Main duties of the job
- Medical management of inpatients on the acute medical wards of managed under the COTE and General Medicine teams.- Providing day to day cover for the wards and units they are directly assigned to, as an integral member of a consultant-led team. This includes review of new patients, follow-up of investigations and treatment and overseeing the day to day management of patients within these wards and units, attending Consultant ward rounds and participating in multi-disciplinary meetings, maintaining accurate, complete and legible notes, prescribe medicines in the drug chart and issuing timely discharge letters / e-discharges and discharge medications (TTO's) to promote good liaison with General Practitioners- To attend outpatient clinics as required- Liaison and communication with other Medical and Surgical Units and other disciplines within the hospital. liaise with patients' relatives- Participation in the General Medical on-call Rota. provide cover for colleagues in an emergency and when on annual / study leave,- Attending all training opportunities provided by the department. Opportunities will be available to plan and organise own continuing medical education within financial resources available.- To take active part in all aspects Clinical Governance.- To participate in induction and regular appraisal, assessment and continuing professional development throughout the contract.
About us
The Division of Acute and Emergency Medicine is responsible for services in the Emergency Departments, Acute General Medicine, Medicine for the Elderly, Stroke, Therapies, Pharmacy, and Intermediate care. Within the Division, University hospital Lewisham (UHL) has 295 beds including a 46-bed Medical Admissions Unit, a 24-bed Frailty Unit, 6 General Medical wards (including high dependency and cardiac beds), 4 Medicine for the Elderly wards and 2 Stroke rehabilitation Units (28 bedded and 24 bedded units)..Page 6 of 13The Division is led by the Divisional Director of Medicine (Dr B McCall). The General Management Team is led by a Divisional General Manager with the assistance of site specific Deputy General Managers.- The Division's Nursing Team is led by the Heads of Nursing; each is assisted by a Senior Nurse and "Modern Matrons" who have clinical supervisory roles across the Division. As well as the Ward and Departmental Nursing teams, there are Nurse Consultants in Cardiology, Diabetes and Respiratory Medicine and Nurse Specialists in Cardiology, Respiratory Medicine, Cystic Fibrosis, Gastroenterology, Cancer & Palliative Care, Diabetes, Dermatology, Rheumatology, Parkinson's Disease/Dementia, Falls and Multiple Sclerosis.- There is also a 24 hour Clinical Site Management Team, managed by the Division of Critical Care, Women, Children and Pathology to reduce the number of calls on junior doctors and assist with bed management especially out of hours and at weekends
