About us

Every year, 2500 inpatients and more than 7000 outpatients are seen within the Children's Neurosciences service. Services are provided from a recently refurbished purpose designed outpatient department in the South Wing of St Thomas' Hospital together with facilities in ELCH. Inpatient, Neurophysiology and Neuroradiology facilities are in the main Evelina Children's Hospital which is also on the St Thomas' site.

The service is growing at over 10% per year and provides a wide range of sub-specialist clinical services. These specialist clinics involve a large multi-disciplinary team delivered by close joint working between 25 paediatric specialists (paediatric neurologists, developmental paediatricians, neurodisability physicians and child psychiatrists), 100+ AHPs (clinical psychologists, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists) and 10 specialist nurses.

All Fellow posts are clinical appointments, but the department has a strong academic record, and development of a research interest will be encouraged

As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends. Creating a world-leading Academic Health Sciences Centre.
